{"id":10279,"date":"2024-04-01T10:41:44","date_gmt":"2024-04-01T08:41:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zfoam.com\/reticulated-and-non-reticulate-polyolefin-foams-in-the-zfoam-product-catalogue\/"},"modified":"2024-04-01T10:41:44","modified_gmt":"2024-04-01T08:41:44","slug":"reticulated-and-non-reticulate-polyolefin-foams-in-the-zfoam-product-catalogue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zfoam.com\/en\/reticulated-and-non-reticulate-polyolefin-foams-in-the-zfoam-product-catalogue\/","title":{"rendered":"Reticulated and non-reticulate polyolefin foams in the ZFoam product catalogue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We recently announced the release of our new general catalogue of foams and insulating materials, <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zfoam.com\/nuevo-catalogo-de-espumas-zfoam\/\">a complete guide<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> containing more than 80 materials, which we have created as a professional reference tool. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While our <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zfoam.com\/espumas-azote-en-catalogo-de-espumas-zfoam\/\">last post about our new catalogue<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was devoted to the section on Azote\u00ae and Zotek\u00ae, we now focus on the section about our reticulated and non-reticulated polyolefin foams PN\/PT, PTPK, PR, LJ\/EVJ, PEVA and PNR.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>Types of reticulated and non-reticulate polyolefin foams<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a reminder, the basic difference between reticulated and non-reticulated polyolefin foams is their production process (the former involves a physical and chemical reaction called reticulation, while the latter involves the use of pressurised gas to expand them without the need for reticulation) and density. Reticulated foams come in densities of 25 kg\/m<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and above, while non-reticulated foams densities come within a range of 20\u2013150 kg\/m<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3<\/span><b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have divided these foams into types to make them easier to identify and compare their properties. There are different types of reticulated foams:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>PN \/ PT<\/strong>\u2013 both stand out for their physical reticulation and excellent surface quality, although PN foams are more resistant to impacts, and PT foams show better performance when compressed. These foams can also include varying degrees of fire-retardant additives. They are widely used in industry and construction.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>PTPK<\/strong>\u2013 these foams have a semi-closed cellular structure and become closed-cell foams when compressed. They stand out for their softness, elasticity, ability to recover their original shape and their resistance to chemical agents. They are particularly suitable for air and water seals.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>PR<\/strong>\u2013 these stand out for their chemical reticulation and their good mechanical properties, which make them suitable for a large number of uses, including the manufacture of articles of comfort and for thermal and acoustic insulation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>LJ \/ EVJ<\/strong>\u2013 these foams have an extremely fine microcellular structure and come in a wide range of special colours, a stand-out being \u2018deep black\u2019, which is ideal for presentation packaging.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Non-reticulated foams include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>PNR<\/strong>\u2013 in addition to its range of densities (20\u2013150 kg\/m<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), PNR foams are characterised by their different levels of antistatic properties and for their ease of transformation, making them suitable for packaging solutions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><strong>PEVA<\/strong>\u2013 these foams are made from high-density EVA.
