When we talk about expanded polyethylene foams, we refer to a high quality material, very useful and versatile, whose characteristics make it ideal to be used in different contexts as construction, industry, packaging and transport of all kinds of goods or for the protection of a large number of products.
How is expanded polyethylene foam obtained?
Expanded polyethylene is a polyethylene-based polyolefin, which is obtained by means of physical or chemical agents to achieve its foaming. Its density will vary depending on the amount of agents used. The greater the expansion, the less density the foam will have.
Within expanded polyethylene foams, there are two different types: cross-linked and non-cross-linked expanded polyethylene foams. The first ones are obtained, as we said before, from physical or chemical reactions, the second ones, expansion is achieved by gas.
Their density is also different: crosslinked foams can have a range of densities between 15 and 300 Kg / m³ and non-crosslinked foams, between 20 and 150Kg / m³.
When to use expanded polyethylene foam?
These foams are mainly used as packaging solutions as well as thermal insulation, although the number of applications is very large and varied.
We can see them in construction, automotive, health, footwear, packaging, home appliances, food, or sports, to name but a few.
Presentation forms of polyethylene foam
Our polyethylene foams can be supplied in the form of rolls, sheets or end pieces. For the latter, and as a consequence of the flexibility that we have seen that these foams present in terms of uses, we manufacture pieces that will be part of products such as mats, tatamis, paddle rackets, presentation and protection packaging, interior of suitcases and briefcases and industrial pieces, although the list is much more extensive.
