Where doing more with less is both revolutionary and good for the planet.
We take it as read that we should be leading the way when it comes to being environmentally friendly, something we achieve with our in-house manufacturing system. That is why, at ZFoam, we have invested heavily to reduce our consumption of resources (energy and raw materials) to a minimum. Specific measures are employed for this and to reduce the emissions and waste we generate:
What we have done:
Lighting
We have replaced all the factory lighting with LED lights, greatly reducing energy consumption in exchange for better lighting that is also far more comfortable for our team.
We are committed to self-sufficiency
We have installed a photovoltaic power plant to be self-sufficient (total installed power: 380kW). This means a reduction of 384 tons in CO2 emissions/year, an equivalent saving in coal of 156 tons per year and the planting of 21,024 trees per year. The use of clean energy sources is something that is a no-brainer for us.
Smarter machines = more efficient machines
Industry 4.0 is the best way to optimize our manufacturing processes. This is implemented through having more modern, more efficient machinery capable of monitoring its own efficiency, among a slew of other variables. In addition to these investments, we have installed sensors in the rest of our equipment to ensure constant feedback on performance, reduce inefficient energy consumption and predict potential faults.
Internal treatment of our own waste
We have an in-house treatment of our waste to minimize the impact that we may make, achieving values that are well inside the legally established thresholds.
All these measures, and many others that we will be putting into effect, are aimed at ensuring our ECO products are produced in a clean and sustainable way that aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goal number 12 (Responsible Production) and the aim of being a “Zero Waste” company.
