More than a year ago we began to talk on this blog about the solid commitment that, at ZFoam, we had towards the environment, sustainability and the circular economy, although these practices began before these articles.

This commitment materializes in several ways, such as:

  • The increasing use of recycled and recyclable materials
  • The consolidation of our range of ecological foams ECO & BIO, with new foams of vegetal origin and negative carbon footprint.
  • The development, together with the Circe Foundation, of a Life Cycle Calculator (LCA) to measure the environmental impact derived from the manufacture of our products.
  • Internal recycling and recovery of the waste we generate

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

At ZFoam we further reaffirm these practices, since one of our goals is to align our objectives with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) set by the UN, especially number 12: “Responsible Production”.

This is one of the most transversal and ambitious SDGs of the 2030 Agenda for developed countries, since it implies a cultural change in the modes of production towards a more sustainable and efficient model, which implies doing more and better with less, reducing generation of waste.

“Towards zero waste”

With this motivation, we are working on achieving the “Zero Waste” certification. After the audit carried out by the independent body DNV, we have come very close to achieving this certification, having instead obtained the “Towards zero waste” certificate. This indicates that ZFoam is in the right direction and that it is a matter of continuing to progress, in the way that we have done, to have the satisfaction of obtaining the certification. At ZFoam we are very satisfied with how far we have come in the use of sustainable materials and we have no doubt that we will write to you again to inform you that we have obtained the “Zero Waste” certificate.

Our enthusiasm will not be based only on the certification itself, but also on the new processes, new materials and the measures that we will have adopted to get closer to SDG 12, with all the changes for the better that brings for the entire society.
