Whenever we think of companies that stand out for combining innovation and sustainability in the packaging sector, one of the first that comes to mind is Stora Enso.
Their expertise in the circular economy, and their wide range of products that are revolutionising the market have led us to join forces with them without hesitation.
We at ZFoam are determined to be at the forefront of sustainability by using materials that allow us to offer our customers the most eco-friendly and easily recyclable solutions.
Stora Enso Wood Foams
The Finno-Swedish company Stora Enso feature wood foams among their wide range of products. What are they exactly?
Wood foams are eco-friendly foams made from cellulose fibre, which offer a set of characteristics equivalent to many conventional foams of fossil origin, but with the advantage of recycling in the same circuit as paper and cardboard.
Moreover, the way they are sourced is much kinder to the planet than any other, given that the raw materials that go into their production come from sustainably managed forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

Sustainable and ground-breaking cellulose foams
As we’ve explained up to now, it’s easy to see how ground-breaking the use of these sustainable foams are in all types of packaging solutions, but this becomes even clearer when we look at their other advantages:
- High-performance protection (shock-absorption) and thermal insulation
- Easy transformation: the foam blocks can be cut into custom sizes, just like any other type of foam
- Easy to adapt to all types of packaging and applications
At ZFoam, we already have a number of products, such as ZPack Isotherm, which incorporate the excellent properties of wood foams. This is a step forward in the use of latest-generation materials that we are very proud to have taken (and which we are sure others will soon follow).
We would remind you that ZPack Isotherm is a lining material manufactured from wood foams for the interior of cardboard boxes and features excellent properties as thermal insulation, including:
- Both box and thermal liner are recyclable in the paper and cardboard circuit
- High thermal insulation (λ = 0.036 W/mK)
- Light and easy to use (insulation 30 kg/m3 density)
- Adaptable to any type of cardboard box (send us your request for more detailed information)
- Ideal for refrigerated or frozen products.
