We are pleased to announce that we have completed the installation of our solar panels on the roof of ZFoam, a step further in our commitment to the circular economy and sustainability , in this case focusing on energy savings.

We are committed to using clean and renewable energies

The decision to go down this route was in response in our strategy for self-consumption wherever possible.

It’s the aim of ZFoam to reduce energy use as much as possible, owing to the high costs involved, and to minimise our environmental through the use of clean and renewable energies.

We’re proud to have a system whose array makes the best possible use of all the available space, allowing it to cover a surface area of 2,650 m2 and peak power output of 370.76 kWp. Our yearly energy production is estimated to be 446,702 kWh, which covers approximately 63% of our total annual consumption.

In addition to these figures, we highlight a crucial statistic for ZFoam: a 120-tonne reduction in our atmospheric CO2 emissions, a measurable and objective rate, and we are excited to see that it is already a part of the characteristics of our facilities.

Furthermore, no other intervention was necessary for the placement of the solar panels other than use of the roofs of our buildings, giving these often-impractical spaces a new use.

On the way to zero waste

The installation of solar panels reinforces a series of actions that we have been putting into place for several years at ZFoam in order to properly treat our waste and minimise the environmental impact of our activity. To give a few examples:

    • We internally recycle more than 95% of the waste we generate.
    • We are committed to the use of recycled and recyclable materials to replace those of fossil origin wherever possible.
    • We are constantly on the lookout for innovative materials that combine performance and circularity. Important examples include plant-based foams with carbon-negative certification by International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) and the new 100% recyclable ZPack Isotherm material whose cellulose foam base is recycled in the same circuit as paper and cardboard.
    • We have a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) calculator developed together with Fundación Circe, to measure the environmental impact resulting from the manufacturing of our products.

ZFoam zero waste

These practices, combined with our application of sustainable development goals (SDGs), allow us to progress towards the goal that we endeavour to accomplish, which also puts us in an excellent position to achieve Zero Waste certification, which we hope to announce soon.

Every action carried out by ZFoam, from internal waste recycling to the installation of solar panels, has a common goal: to make the manufacturing of our products as sustainable as possible for the good of individuals, society as a whole and the planet.
